Koha supportThe Wessels Library at Newberry College goes live on Koha with ByWater Solutions

ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America’s forefront provider of Koha support, announced today that the Wessels Library at Newberry College, of Newberry, South Carolina is now live on Koha! ByWater Solutions completed the migration of the library’s 75,000 plus holdings from Symphony earlier this year and is providing ongoing Koha support and hosting services to them.  The Library’s customized online Koha catalog can be viewed at: http://newberry.bywatersolutions.com

Nancy Rosenwald, Director of the Wessels Library, commented on their decision to switch to Koha with ByWater:

Our migration was initially motivated by cost and previous experience with Evergreen, a different open source program; however, reduced cost has proven to be just one of the many benefits of moving to Koha.  It’s easier for our patrons to find materials, and it’s simpler for our library staff to complete their work.  We’ve already seen increases in usage since our migration four months ago.  We’ve also found Bywater to be responsive to our migration and technical support needs in ways we never had with our previous vendor.  It’s been a great move for us.

Felicia Beaudry, Information Librarian for the College adds:

For other libraries considering the change……please don’t assume that open-source somehow means settling for something “less than” what you have.  Koha provides the same functionality of the proprietary systems, but with greater flexibility and ease of use. It’s a perfect solution for our small academic library.”
