Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary Partners with ByWater Solutions for Koha Support and Implementation
ByWater Solutions, an open source community supporter and official Koha support company, announced today that the Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, of Allen Park, MI. has partnered with them for the installation and support of the official Koha integrated library system.
Matthew Gass, Assistant Librarian at the Seminary commented on their decision to migrate from their Voyager system to Koha supported by ByWater Solutions;
“We concluded that the open source community was producing a product now mature enough to meet our needs. Once we became confident in the support being provided from ByWater and that the open source project was moving in a direction that is addressing the needs and desires of academic libraries, the decision became simple: we’re getting more than our money’s worth.”

The library collection’s main holdings consist of more than 40,000 monographs, reference works, scholarly dissertations, and bound volumes of periodicals. The library currently has paid subscriptions to about 270 print periodicals (including more than 170 indexed religious journals) and about 100 electronic journals, all of which keep students abreast of current biblical, theological, historical, and practical research.
The Detroit Theological Seminary’s library is on track to go live at the beginning of August, 2010.
