Coos County Libraries Choose ByWater Solutions’ Koha Support

ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America’s forefront provider of Koha support, announced today that the Coos County Libraries of Coos County Oregon are now live their installation of the Koha open source ILS.

ByWater Solutions has completed the migration of Coos County’s 12 circulating locations, over 500,000 items and over 50,000 patrons and will be providing ongoing Koha Support for them. Their custom mobile-friendly OPAC can be viewed at http://catalog.cclsd.org/.

Sean Park, Technology Systems Manager, spoke of his decision to choose Koha and ByWater :

“The decision to migrate was an easy one, but the decision on what to migrate to was not. For our consortium it ultimately came down to feature versus finance. We wanted to give our patrons modern capabilities while decreasing the operational costs of the ILS. Koha has delivered on both fronts.

ByWater’s commitment to Koha, functionally and philosophically, is undeniable. We could not have migrated without them. Now that we are in the day-to-day routine it’s reassuring to know Bywater is there for ongoing support, and we look forward to a long Koha + Bywater relationship.

I am asked often if we would do it all over again. Of course there are bumps in the road, but we would do it again in a second. No question.”

About Coos County Libraries:
Coos County is a large, sparsely populated county covering 1,629 square miles with dispersed population centers. Distances of over sixty miles between some libraries make resource sharing vital. The District has created a united library catalog and circulation system named “Coastline‚Äù, through which all member libraries share their materials freely to all residents of Coos County. With the addition in 1996 of two school libraries from School District 41, Myrtle Point, Coastline now numbers twelve circulating sites, with a catalog of more than 400,000 titles and 650,000 items. In 2011-2012 Coastline libraries checked out 923,531 items and filled 153,284 hold requests for patrons system-wide. Patrons in Coos county used the online catalog to renew 55,539 items.
