ByWater Solutions Announces Koha Integration with OverDrive Circulation

ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America’s forefront provider of Koha support, announced today that the Koha OPAC Circulation Integration with OverDrive for Libraries is now available.

The Koha OverDrive Search integration has been available for users for several years now and the new integration will allow users to checkout, check-in, and place holds on their items directly through the Koha OPAC without the need to upload MARC records into the library catalog.

Once the user performs a search on the OPAC, if results are found in OverDrive users can follow a link to a page displaying current holdings and availability for checkout directly within the Koha OPAC.

Partnership

Steve Potash, CEO and founder of OverDrive commented on this initiative:

OverDrive APIs enable libraries to leverage their investment in library automation and new applications in powerful and innovative ways. We are excited to partner with ByWater to support all the ways libraries improve how readers discover and enjoy ebooks, audiobooks and more from their digital catalogs.

Brendan Gallagher, CEO of ByWater also commented about this new feature:

We are very excited to continue the initial Overdrive integration we had in place to include circulation and holds support for our mutual library partners. Having both print and digital content available in one place makes our patrons experience even easier and the content available more accessible.
