Koha How-To

Emailing Receipts in Koha

In the newest version of Koha, 18.11, the ability to automatically email receipts for payments and write-offs is introduced. The moment the payment or write off happens, an email is sent if the patron has email. Less paper! But more emails!

Library Set Up

For a library to enable this feature, the system preference: UseEmailReceipts will need to be set to Send.

With this feature, two new notices will be in Koha’s Notices & Slips module. These notices are called: ACCOUNT_PAYMENT and ACCOUNT_WRITEOFF and will be formatted in Template Toolkit syntax. The notices cannot be changed out of Template Toolkit syntax.

Notices

Once a payment has been applied to the patron’s account, a notice will be generated. This notice will be ACCOUNT_PAYMENT.

The notice will look like from the patron’s notice tab:

Once a write-off has been applied to the patron’s account, a notice will be generated. This notice will be ACCOUNT_WRITEOFF.

The notice will look like from the patron’s notice tab:

These notices can be found in the Tools module under Notices and Slips. Now, remember, these notices are written in Template toolkit and needs to stay in this format. This does not mean a library can't change the notice, the changes would just need to stay in this format.
